Writer’s workshop

The first AMESA Western Cape Writer’s Workshop was held in 1996.

At this workshop the idea for the AMESA booklet Assessment in Mathematics was born. A group of teachers and AMESA members carried the process forward, meeting regularly to share ideas, and the booklet was finally published by Maskew Miller Longman in 1997. Since then the booklet has been used by teachers countrywide, assisting them in coming to grips with assessment in Curriculum 2005.

AMESA Western Cape is holding another writer’s workshop with the aim of empowering AMESA members to write further booklets for teachers.

Date: Saturday 21 April 2001

Time: 09:00 to 16:00

Venue: Abbott’s College, Milnerton

Participants will receive input from experienced writers on the process of writing teacher materials. Small working groups will then begin work on selected topics, and draw up plans for the creation of the booklets. This process will then be carried forward in subsequent working group meetings.
